Welcome to Buenos Aires!
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the XVII Latin American Meeting on Photochemistry and Photobiology (XVII ELAFOT) and the 3rd Meeting of the Latin American Branch of the American Society for Photobiology (LatASP), to be held between October 4 and 8, 2027, at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires. This joint meeting will bring together researchers, students, and professionals from across Latin America and around the world to share knowledge, foster collaborations, and explore the latest advances in photochemistry, photobiology, and light-based technologies.
Since its beginnings in 1982, the ELAFOT series has provided a unique forum for scientific exchange across Latin America, fostering collaborations and bringing together different generations of researchers working at the interface between light, molecules, materials, and living systems.
The 2027 meeting will continue this tradition while highlighting the rapidly evolving frontiers of the field. We invite contributions spanning photochemistry, photophysics, photobiology, photosynthesis, biophotonics, environmental photochemistry, photomedicine, materials and nanoscience, spectroscopy, and light-driven processes, among other related areas.
We are especially delighted to host this meeting in Buenos Aires, a vibrant and cosmopolitan city known for its rich cultural life, outstanding scientific tradition, architecture, gastronomy, and warm hospitality. We hope that, in addition to enjoying an exciting scientific program, participants will have the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of our city and create lasting connections with colleagues from different parts of the world.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we warmly invite you to join us for this unique opportunity to strengthen the scientific community and further promote interactions among researchers working in all areas of photobiology and photochemistry. One of our main goals is to bring together the different photobiological and photochemical societies and communities, fostering new interdisciplinary collaborations and reinforcing scientific ties throughout Latin America and beyond.
